World Record Cosplay Attempt In London… AGAINYou may remember early in the year Guinness and SEGA teamed up to promote the first attempt at setting a video game cosplay world record? Well, frankly it was an “interesting” affair as they decided to set it on a weekday which was also a school day down by the Thames at one of the coldest times of the year. You’ll also remember that I conjoured up both NiGHTS and Sonic courtesy of our friends at NiGHTSintoDreams.com and there was also Tails, Amy Rose, Ulala and Richard Jacques - who came as himself and was disqualified for not being fictional.
Well it seems since then someone at Guinness GOT A CLUE and realised they could gain more people if they held the cosplay event on a Saturday at a big gaming expo. So on October 25th at the London ExCel centre at 12:30 “on the stairs, outside the entrance” another attempt is going to be made so good luck to you if you want to try. … However on a personal point, whilst its fine and dandy that Guinness should try this again, I do have a slight issue with this as they described the previous record as, and I quote ”a measly 80 people” in their press release. Well that was 80 people who gave up their time and braved a none too pleasant chill on a somewhat daft day in order to set said record with the promise that they would appear in the Guinness Book of Gaming Records 2009. Are they going to now? Most likely not unless they go again. So to call it a measly 80 people is a bit of a slap to the face to them in my book. What about that poor class of young kids who all dressed up as Mario? I assume they miss out now too.
Look at those faces Guinness!
