In preparation of Aliens vs. Predator being released on the 19th of February (not long game fans), here’s a little bit of info on the seven different multiplayer modes. Which one are you most looking forward to?
DEATH MATCH:
If you love a game with frantic, brutal chaos then Death Match in AVP multiplayer is for you. It’s all about getting the most kills in the time limit set. Players can also win the match by hitting the target score before anyone else.
INFESTATION:
For total over-whelming mayhem, nothing comes close to the tension and potential for pant-wetting scenarios than INFESTATION. One player starts the match as an Alien Hunter and their task is to kill the Marine prey. When a Marine player is killed they will join the Alien Hunter team and help to kill off any remaining Marines.
MIXED SPECIES DEATH MATCH:
just like Death Match, but with mixed species. Two teams, made up from all three species fight to get the most kills in the set time limit or to reach the target score before the other team.
SURVIVOR:
For the ultimate test of stamina, play Survivor Mode. Survivor allows for up to four players to enter an arena to fight waves of progressively stronger aliens. Each arena will be set up with two main areas. One will be a platform which is relatively easy to defend; the other will be an area where ambush by aliens is more likely. Supplies of health and ammo will re-spawn in this second area.
PREDATOR HUNT:
If you’re after a more stealthy multiplayer game go for Predator Hunt. In this mode one player is selected to become the Predator Hunter, the rest of the players take the role of the Marine prey. The Hunter must use the Predator’s stealth abilities and advanced equipment to pick off the prey and score points. The Marines will need to defend themselves from this threat and if possible, to kill the Hunter.
SPECIES DEATH MATCH:
Species Death Match pits a Marine team, Alien team and Predator team against each other in a race to get the most kills within the set time limit or to reach the target score before any of the other teams.
DOMINATION:
Take capture the flag to a whole new level with Domination. In Domination two teams fight for ownership of Control Points around the level. Owning a Control Point gives the team a small and steady, stream of points. The more Control Points owned, the more that team scores. A team will win when their score has reached 100 points.

Infestation looks to be fantastic, frantic fun. It’s also the most ‘authentic’ multiplayer Alien experience imo.

I like these game modes.. but..
Are there only 2 teams in mixed species tdm? One gamemode i miss from the list is Evac. One species has x amount of time to espace in any way to a transport, the other tries to eliminate that species within given time. If evacing species at evac point for x amount of time alive that team wins. Would be fun to see such a mode with a dustoff at the end. Another gamemode is overrun. Both from avp2.
Just a detail. I can understand rebellion have not chosen them. All the explained modes are nice and grateful for this amount. Good work.

I hope to see what me and my friends called ‘life cycle mode’ make a return. This was where one player would start as a face hugger, infect one marine player and basically fight off lots of marines.

Hi Azrael.. 9th and X-LR are back for example.. some others. avpgalaxy has good info. Been following the development of this game online over a year. Great to get info but atm it’s almost info overload. Will be great when one finally gets the game.
Rebellion squeezed in a fair amount of gamemodes. Looks and sounds good. With demo coming out hopefully it also rocks in the gameplay.
Adding a form of evac and a form of marine vs WY-corporation mode (avp2 overrun like) would make it perfect.

Looks really nice, looking forward to the game, I did pre-order it at amazon.co.uk (come from Germany).
Will the game feature coop Campaign? Or only Survivor as coop mode?

How many of these are playable off-line? (I take it that none of them are, as I have not seen any split-screen modes.)
Is there any multiplayer split-screen content at all? If so, then what is it? This is really a make or break thing for me.

I’m looking forward to this game. The modes I want to play are:
1) Infestation
2) Predator Hunt
3) Survivor
I liked the Infection mode in Perfect Dark on the 360 and the Zombie mode on Halo 3 which is why infestation is my number one pick.
Just remember to keep releasing DLC with extra levels and hopefully more game modes like the ones mentioned by others, Evac and Overrun sound like fun. I willdefinutely pick this up on release day and look toward to future content.
Add my gamertag on xbox live if you plan on playing this a lot and we’ll play together on Feb. 16. Maybe we can hold a marathon. ^^
Send me a message if my friends list is full and I’ll add you.

“Predator survivor vs ai aliens” would be the funnest game mode. It better be in the game and is being kept secret or I’ll be disappointed.
Think of the scene from the AVP movie where they are at the top of the ancient temple and the huge swarm of aliens starts climbing up it and they start blasting away with their plasma guns and slicing until they are overrun and then set off their bomb and blow everything up.
I just playd one of the funnest matches today in the demo, I was a pred everyone else as aliens teamed up against me, it was amazing! This is ALIENS VS PREDATOR after all.
It’s all about one species vs the other in this game (evident in how popular aliens vs marines and preds vs marines was in AVP2, even most people in deathmatch team up with their own species in the demo). Species deathmatch will be fun if it allows just two teams (instead of three).
Rebellion just needs to give the option to be either marines or predators in the survivor mode and depending on what your teem chooses will change what weapons are on the map.
1 SURVIVOR
2 INFESTATION
3 PREDATOR HUNT
4 SPECIES DEATH MATCH – IF it allows just two teams instead of three.

It all looks ok, BUT I was so sad to see a lack of comeback in Alien Tag from the first AVP from 99.
That game mode was so incredibly fun, I can’t count the hours I spent with my friends in that one
The Predator Hunt mode here seems similar to Tag, except it was with an alien – and when a marine was killed by the alien player, he got turned into the alien himself and the previous alien respawns as marine.
Nothing like sneaking around air ducts and picking off marines one by one, and getting them to shoot at eachother when you zoom by
God I hope they’ll release it later as DLC or patch or something.
