James CarsonSelf acclaimed office golf champ & website editor.
Hi, I'm JimmyC, I go by many names, but choose to stick with just the one for all the blog fans to make it easy. I'm a long suffering addict of Football Manager and anything Total War, so when SEGA asked me to become the Web Editor, I felt it a little like going to rehab. (The night time addiction has subsided, but the daytime cravings of playing another match/fighting Rome's enemies on the battlefield are often called into action come lunchtime.) After spending seven years at military boarding school in Dover (no, that is not actually a joke) I ran as far as I could by going to York University. Far from attending debates on existentialism and hopelessly left wing politics, I furthered my education by playing Rome: Total War for the majority of his second and third year; I studied history and english after all, so rewriting the age of antiquity made perfect sense. With only two hours of somewhat pointless seminars on subjects as wide ranging as medieval superheroes, comic scriptwriting and 1960s Britain, I had to do something to fill my free time other than lie about hungover. I guess that's where Football Manager/Total War obsession began. The Rome campaign was pretty easy, so I decided on a lifelong struggle with the Seleucid Greeks, culminating in the conquest of the old world and a coronation of myself as Alexander the Great. At the same time I signed Hernan Crespo for Celta Vigo on a Bosman and poached Freddy Adu, then guided my team to glory on Football Manager. Needless to say, 2005/2006 was a pretty good few years for computer games. After University I sat about wondering what I wanted to do for quite a while, and even sat on the dole until I became a copywriter. I moved to London in late 2007 and got the job at SEGA in July 2008, so I haven't been here too long! I’m web editor, which means that I’m worryingly in charge of most of the text that appears on the website. This is a bit of a problem, because I can’t read or write. I’m telling a typist to do this entry. I'm also slightly disturbed by the way everyone else on here has written their bio entry in the third person. Isn't that a sign of madness? Seeing as everyone's also claiming to be ninjas I think it's pretty likely.

Tee for Tea - Game #2It’s been a while since I’ve shared my tee for tea exploits, but everyone in my general vicinity has become somewhat addicted to a particular flash game with an incredibly simple premise. Check it out here. I know there’s a lot of Stick Cricket purists out there, but I’ve begun to think this simply hits […] [Read More]

The Big Webby RoundupHi everyone. It’s been a while since I’ve been on the blogs but I’m back. There’s been a lot going on in the last week, so much so that I thought a blog to the masses would be the best way of rounding it up. The news section of sega.co.uk has seen a very busy […] [Read More]

The fan feedback has been so far - well, sensational really. Everyone went completely barmy when the trailer went live on YouTube, and it becoming […]

Tee for Tea Game #1You might have seen my last post about tea making… Basically it’s a flash game competition with the person who does the worst having to get up and make the delicious tea. We play many games, but one of my personal favourites is the helicopter game. All you have to do is click to make […] [Read More]

Tee for Tea (Or How Tea Making is Decided) - Game RulesAt every company I’ve worked at so far (that’s 3), there have been issues about making the tea. In my world, it’s every man for himself, so I’m happy to get my own. However, when people start offering me stuff, I’m naturally inclined to say yes. But I’m not always the best at making the […] [Read More]

An Evening Burning RubberSo another week goes by here at SEGA, and another fun activity seemed to come along. Having been here a mere six weeks, and managing to be treated to a two day conference within that time, I thought I was somewhat fortunate of my arrival date. Then, this week, one of our nice little agencies […] [Read More]

Conference 2: The Generation Video GameAnd so continues the somewhat epic saga of the conference. So, after yesterday’s incredibly exciting speeches post, the morning took slightly more comic proceedings. This was through the Marketing Dept’s presentation for some of our upcoming top titles for the year; namely Sonic Unleashed, Madworld, Samba de Amigo and Empire: Total War, all done in […] [Read More]

The Exciting Part of the ConferenceSo, as you probably know from our last posts, on Thursday SEGA Europe threw their annual company conference. This, for a relative newcomer, was an absolute pleasure, because if nothing else at least it was two days off work. However, it turned out to be a more welcome break than that, with the speeches helpful, […] [Read More]

To be honest, this is shaping up to be the kind of job I so badly wanted to do after I finished University, which was almost two years ago this month. After working as […] [Read More]
