As always, Friday has proved to be another busy day of trailer launches, announcements and game releases. The end of the week is frequently manic for me as the Web Editor, as I try to upload as much stuff as possible and get the right news stories out - things are going well so far though!

It’s been a particularly busy build up to the release of Golden Axe: Beast Rider, with three new trailers being released this week alone. All featuring the game’s heroine Tyris Flare, you’ll be able to get a taste of some cool action sequences, but there are also seven other trailers to sample as well! You can check them all out at our SEGA Europe YouTube channel. The game was also released across Europe today - a mere sixteen years after the last game of the series arrived in stores. For gaming fans, that’s one seriously long wait! Take a look at the Golden Axe: Beast Rider website for more info on the title. Spooky music awaits.

In other news today, we’ve given you a taste of what to expect from two hotly anticipated upcoming titles in two more new trailers. Firstly, you’ll now be able to get a feel for what Alpha Protocol is all about, with the new CGI trailer hinting at plenty of action mixed with loads of espionage in what’s set to become the definitive spy RPG. You can see the new trailer on the Alpha Protocol page. The game’s set for release early next year. I particularly like the trailer clip with the curvalicious lady on the bed pulling out a gun… Almost as sexy as Tyris Flare. I’m beginning to find myself getting more and more sucked into fancying computer game heroines - the graphics have certainly come a long way from the triangular early Tomb Raider days, if you know what I mean…

Anyway… back to the real point - another game play trailer for Sonic Unleashed has also been published on SEGA websites today, and we’re pretty close to the full minisite release in the next couple of days, so keep your eyes peeled for that news flash! The video features some great footage of everyone’s favourite hedgehog charging through some exotic desert levels - and it also includes some night footage featuring none other than the werehog.

Make sure you check back for more updates, it’s going to be an exciting time in the next couple of weeks with the release of Football Manager 2009 and Sonic Unleashed not too far off!

Hey Sonic fans! We are looking for artists to help us tell the story of Sonic in a special animated gallery in the upcoming new title, Sonic and the Black Knight due for release on the Nintendo Wii in early 2009.

Draw Sonic, Knuckles, Tails or Amy (or any combination of them together) in your favourite scene from your favourite Sonic game and send it to us before the deadline of September 19th. We’ll choose 20 of the best European entries received to feature in Sonic and the Black Knight and each of those winners will also receive a free copy of the game.

Submitting is easy! Simply head over to our Sonic Fan Art Game Gallery Contest page and sign up. We do have some restrictions, so please read those carefully to be sure you meet the requirements.
