Sonic Marketing Update

Hi all,

As you can imagine with the imminent launches of Sonic The Hedgehog and Sonic Rivals, the blue fella has really been keeping me on my toes! Now this blog site is live, I would like to keep you informed on a regular basis of what’s new from the SEGA Europe brand marketing team - and there is a lot to tell!

Where to start?! Well, Sonic The Hedgehog is out first on the 24th of this month and we’ve developed a stunning print and TV advertising campaign. You won’t see the ad in print until Monday 6th November or the TV ad broadcast until the game’s launch. However, here’s an advance preview of both…

The Print ad will appear in various publications across Europe and leads into the story for our TV campaign, entitled ‘The Sonic Age’. Click the image above to see the print ad full-size.

The concept of the TV campaign focuses on the rebirth of Sonic the Hedgehog on next-generation platforms in his 15th Anniversary year. We are creating the feel of something epic, as this is a significant milestone and gaming experience for Sonic.

The ad begins with a planet emerging from the darkness of space, but gradually reveals the next-generation face of Sonic. Classical music (i.e. Richard Strauss) plays to add a dramatic tone. The ad then progresses from the space environment and launches into gameplay action showcasing the new-look Sonic in awesome next-gen environments, ending with the logo in space as a star constellation.

Click the images below for an insiders look at the ad’s storyboard.

The TV and print ads supporting Sonic’s next-gen debut are stunning, I hope you’ll agree! They’re so good, in fact, that we’ve used them to create some very special desktop wallpaper images for you to download.

That’s a lot of stuff on Sonic’s next-gen outing, but what of Sonic Rivals? Well we haven’t been sitting still. We’ve just launched (literally, as I write this) the game’s new website, so be sure to check it out at www.sonic-city.com/sonicrivals. There you’ll find a trailer, game footage, wallpapers, story and character info sections plus much more.

Until the next blog…
