Sonic Sounds - The Remix FactoryProduction website - www.remixfactoryproductions.com Hi everyone! My name’s LB (or Lee when I’m not working… which is never, really…) and I’m the front man of the Remix Factory. Some of you may have heard of us from my contributions to the soundtracks of a few Sonic games, and because of this SEGA has kindly asked me to contribute to the blog an abridged review of the various Sonic-related happenings at the Factory during the past 12 months. Almost exactly a year ago Shadow the Hedgehog was released and was the first soundtrack that I worked on. It all happened entirely by accident and I was so honoured by the opportunity and slightly overwhelmed by the warm response of the fans. Being a Sonic fan myself I take a personal interest in ensuring your satisfaction and I’m so glad of the reactions to the tracks. Thanks for that!! Following that came the notorious “Open Your Heart” remix by K-Klub for Sonic’s 15th birthday, which sparked frenzy on our forums. There is still no confirmed release for this track, but please, please sit tight as there’s still a chance it may surface in some shape or form. The famed Sonic composer and my good friend Jun Senoue likes the mix, and we both have intentions to put it at out some point, so stop worrying peeps! ;o) Which brings us almost to the present. This summer I was asked to produce some tracks for both Sonic Rivals and the new Sonic The Hedgehog, as well as perform the theme for the new character, Silver. It was so much fun finally writing original music for a game and I also had the opportunity to meet up with Jun, celebrated sound engineer Stan Katayama (Sonic Adventure, Sonic Heroes) and composer Mariko Nanba (Sonic Heroes, Space Channel 5: Part 2, Project Rub) while we were working in London, which was a real privilege. Silver’s theme is called “Dreams of an Absolution” and there’s an exclusive remix produced by myself that may possibly be appearing on the forthcoming Remix Factory album (which has just been confirmed for release next year). You can hear the new mix on our website. The album is finally finished after 15 months’ work, and I’m looking forward to the New Year when we release our debut single and start the commercial promotion for the project. But just because I’m going to be here, there and everywhere promoting the album and performing doesn’t mean I don’t have more Sonic goodness tucked away. We’ve got some surprises in store that I have no doubt you’ll love and it won’t be too long before you get to hear all about them. Until then, have fun playing the new games! I know I will!
