We got a surprising email today.

Not only had freelance web designer Jonic Linley from Yorkshire, UK, put loads of effort into designing an alternative Sonic City Blognik for us (it’s all his own content, though, just so you know), it also turns out that his unusual first name is of his own choosing… and it’s all about Sonic.

Originally named Jonathan, Mr Linley legally changed his name in August 2001 to reflect his love of Sonic. It was nice timing, coinciding with Sonic’s 10th anniversary. He tells us he’s even toying with the idea of adding “The Hedgehog” as some middle names, although he’s not quite sure about that yet.

We’ve seen costumes, we’ve seen Sonic-themed modded cars, but we reckon Jonic takes the award for the grandest gesture of Sonic fandom yet. We even sent him a bag of Sonic goodies in recognition of the fact.

But it got us to thinking…

Could there be other folks out there as committed to Sonic as Jonic? Now we’re not recommending name changes or anything, but if you’ve got a hankering for Sonic and can send us something to prove it, then there could be a goody bag in it for you, too!
