This is my first official blog post as a member of the SEGA Community
team, so hello all! I’m really excited to be working for one of the
best gaming companies on the planet. As I’ve been playing their games
for over 20 years, I thought it only right that they should give me a
job. We’ve got some great titles coming out in the next few months, and
I will be giving you the inside info on some of these and much
more.
Anyway, on with the
news.
Not sure if you saw the news
story, but Sumo Digital are currently hard at work on a new
game for us; SEGA Superstars
Tennis. Due for release in early 2008, SEGA Superstars Tennis is
one of those fun, pick-up-and play games where traditional tennis rules
are thrown out in favour of all-out fun and frolics on the
court.
Currently,
info is a little thin on the ground (a bit like my hair), but what we
do know is:
- More than 15 playable
characters from SEGA’s army of gaming idols including Sonic, AiAi,
Ulala, and Amigo.
- Each character will have a unique
ability.
- Exhibition and Tournament
modes.
- Different courts in some very familiar
locations such as Green Hill Zone and Carnival
Park.
- It’s coming out on loads of formats: PS3,
Xbox 360, PS2, Wii and DS.
- You can play your online
buddies with the PS3 and Xbox 360
versions.
- There’ll be loads of unlockable
extras.
We’ll bring you more info on
how the game is coming along soon. I’ll see if I can sneak into
Fortress SEGA and nab some exclusive pics and videos for the
blog.
In the
meantime, what SEGA character would you like to see make an appearance?

Please include NiGHTS! It’s only right he makes an apperance in this game with his own long-awaited title on the way. That Green Hill court looks just sublime. It proves that the traditional Sonic style can look beautiful in 3D, and also like a realistic inhabitable area, rather than a broad linear race track.
I strongly URGE Sega to use this kind of level design in the next Sonic 3D Adventure game. Infact, I think Sega should really look back at the Sonic Adventure series and compare them to the more… experimental titles that all followed Sonic Adventure 2.
Sonic Adventure had such a glorious feel to it, presenting each character so well with well-made and memorable theme songs, and a variety of gameplay that all worked so well in a Sonic game, not to mention the great music elsewhere, fantastic stages and the plot. The only thing wrong with the plot was the inconsistency in the storytelling between characters’ stories.
I am aiming for a career in video game development and have had ideas for Sonic games for years and years now because he is a character I am highly passionate about. I have seen the praise and complaints of the mature Sonic fanbase for years and the one thing it is CRAVING is solidity! If Sega can bring out a 3D Sonic Adventure (with any luck, Sonic Adventure 3!) using a mostly traditional Sonic style, and then try to make THOSE things beautifully realistic (just like the Green Hill court has done,) and also nail the technical side of things, such as camera issues, enemy placement and programming, come up with a good plot, and NO UN-NECESSARY CHARACTERS. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and Dr. Eggman are ALL WE NEED! Other characters can make cameo appearances, but keep the playable roster to the big four please, and we want Dr. Eggman to be the main bad-guy, and not to cower before some bigger threat in the last story.
A lot of words, but really, not much to ask. PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN SEGA (or give me a job once I finish college and Uni and I’ll come and help make it happen. =P)

Hi! Welcome to the blogs ^_^
I’m liking the look of that game. Green hill is captured perfectly! It has the water falls and everything. I’d like to see Eggman playing it. You’d be able to cheat with him.

I can already see myself playing with Sonic a lot but have to try all the characters. It would be nice to bring back Alex Kidd and all other older characters.
