Because I have my ear to the floor most of the time (which usually leads to either splinters or carpet burns) I became very aware that the latest run of Sonic X plushes which are going to be distributed by SEGA Amusements Europe caused quite a stir.

Well, myself and my ninja-ry SEGA community cohort Martin went to ATEI – the Amusement Trades Exhibition at Earls Court, London today and along with SEGA Nerds’ very own G to check out what we, SEGA and everyone else had to offer.

Well SEGA had a rather impressive showing, but it wasn’t long before I found out that the Amusements department had quite a lot on show including some MORE Sonic merchandise that no one had seen – or at least picked up on before.

Firstly the Sonic X plushies were on display, as was the SEGA UFO catcher that they were most likely to be displayed in.

The screen played the opening from Sonic X every so often, sadly using the UK version of the theme which I know most of you (including myself) don’t like, but oh well.  There are actually two sizes of plush which wasn’t clear before the larger ones look pretty nice. The little Amy must’ve had a bad hair day as she looked a bit, er ,”windswept”.  Actually she looked rather purple as opposed to pink I thought… The best ones there by far were the Shadows which looked awesome and have a sort of “and what are YOU looking at?” face.

Alas I couldn’t win any because the vending slots were blocked up. CURSES!

No sooner had I discovered the SEGA Vision – yes, the SEGA Vision was there (see the main SEGA blog in a bit and I’ll tell you all about it). Than I spotted what appeared to be a Sonic with blue spots on him.

What it actually was a big Sonic plush MP3 player! Holding 1Gb of memory you can load up Sonic with your favourite songs via USB and then press play for a variety of tunes to emerge from his soft form.  Apparently its going to be hitting a few places soon – I’m going to see if i can find more details about this as soon as possible.

But the best was for last, as it was like 1993 all over again - SONIC SLIPPERS.
