Hello all ye Sonic folk, whilst I’ve been away for a week (you may have noticed the unusual lack of updates) on holiday from all things blue and spikey the Jun Senoue “The Works” collection was released. Now since Jun himself asked me to remind you I thought it was only fair I did so!  My copy arrived the other day and if you’re a member of the junsenoue.com website Jun has been offering limited numbers of signed copies, sadly these have run out for JS.com and indeed for the forthcoming Best Of Crush 40 album – however there’s still True Colors – The Very Best Of Sonic The Hedgehog Vol 2 on the horizon! More on this later…

There’s some great tracks on it, including a new effort with Ted “Lazy Days…” Poley called “Takoyaki Rock” which is… bizzare, but in a good way! There’s also definite hints of other tracks in a lot of the remixes, one called “Cheerleaders A-Go-Go (Rock Guitar Mix)” is a sort of fusion mix of Space Channel 5, Sonic Adventure and even some Sonic Adventure 2. A very rare remix “After The Adventure” fuses a couple of Adventure tracks with NiGHTS as well in a sort of jazz/lounge music style.

We need more lounge-style Sonic music; check out the Extras theme from Sonic 06 to see what I mean(!)

Anyway my copy was personalised and Jun very kindly packaged in a couple of other bits with my CD so I thought I’d show them off at the very least.

Sadly its so gray, dark and… *sigh* now rainy outside I can’t see, but it must be a blue moon because the Crush 40 YouTube channel actually updated! And its not just any update no, but an update with a four minute preview of all the tracks from Jun Senoue’s best of album “The Works”.

Pretty cool huh, if not perhaps the most visually enthralling thing you’ll see today – come on Jun you could’ve at least put the artwork on it(!) XD

The other item doing the rounds at the moment would be this epic nine minute mash-up of Sonic music compiled by YouTube user n00neimp0rtant.

Jun Senoue’s official site has revealed the track listing for this upcoming best of. It doesn’t have much in the way of Sonic on it, which I actually find somewhat refreshing in a way.

It does though feature the “JS VS LB” version of Dreams of an Absolution, as well as the highly underrated Westopolis from Shadow The Hedgehog. A rare Sonic Adventure/NiGHTS mix called “After The Adventure” and for added Sonic connection there’s a brand new collaboration with Ted “Race To Win/Lazy Days…” Poley.

Got to say, I’m looking forward to hearing that one…
