I have just bought this game without my parent’s financial assistance, saving up what is there to save from my really limited lunch money. And after saving up for around a month, I finally had enough money to buy this game. I am a huge fan of the TW series and I had every single game there is to buy. After buying this game,I went to read some review written by GameFAQ and Gamespy, and without a doubt, they gave it thumbs up. But when I scrolled down to the comments part I saw many people spamming vulgarities saying that the game is bug-ridden and they should call it CTD Total war. But i would like to make my stand clear, I believe in what Mike says and would still support the franchise. I really hope this game would be awesome like how the reviews says and not bug ridden. I would be making another post on Monday when I installed the game and I would like the comment to be positive eg saying this game have awesome graphics etc etc and not saying that I regret buying this game.
Regards from Singapore
PS-Sorry for my poor grammar. English has always been my worst subject

Does anyone know or have experience of running Empire or Napoleon T.W. under the 64-bit version of Windows? I'd really like to know how or if they perform before getting a new PC.

I have just reached the end of the Empire TW game and defeated every nation, but the game doesn't finish with any victory fanfare, it just carries on. Maybe this is a bug or maybe I'm missing the point of the campaign games. Has anybody else had this?
Overall, I found the game lumpy and thought the time it takes to refresh the screen once you finish a turn is painfully slow. In my case 3-7 minutes! It isn't as exciting as some of the prevous offerings, particularly the battle maps. The way the units float accross the screen is very poor. What happend to the battle engine from Rome that featured on that TV programme about famous battles? You got it right then, and the latest engine is very poor in comparison. I have ordered Napoleon, so I'm still supporting the franchise, but hopefully you will realise that some of your older products like Rome TW had many plus points that you appear to have disregarded.

I have enjoyed all the Total War games, although my first experience using Steam was not enjoyable. They seem to have become better, although I do most of my gaming off-line so I can't speak for multi-player or drop in formats.

My wish to the developers for the latest game tweaks for Napoleon is the ability to use a percentage of captured guns by whoever retains the battlefield, for less costly refurbishment of artillery units (men are cheap).

The second is to add the "Sharpe factor" to the game with the capture of elite unit infantry Regimental Colours/Eagles. Because this was a reasonably rare and impressive feat, perhaps the gamers could design it in such a way that it would only occur with the breaking of an elite line infantry square and complete annihilation of the unit by cavalry or just the complete annihilation of the elite infantry units by infantry. It would confer extra experience to the winning unit (or the one designated if more than one unit was involved.) If that is too complicated perhaps it could be added to the General Commanding. It would be a interesting graphic added to the game.

Thank you for the entertainment and the brilliant battlefields.

Those that feel the anger vented by the consumer is not waranted after a year or more of denial on CA's or Sega's behalf clearly need to have their heads examined. Those that feel that a developer does not have to do everything in their power to make sure their product is atleast usable for the majority of their customers must either be some sort of lobbyist or fanboy. You only have to lift the rock you've been living under to see even the most reputable companies like Toyota have to be held accouintable for their own products. They did not blame the brake peddle manafucaturer, like CA and SEGA are blaming Nvidia, they took it upon themselves to fix the problem, and rightly so. We can only hope for more stringent regulatory bodies within the gaming industry in the near future to stop developers releasing unfinished games, and lobbying game reviewers to post unfairly high reviews.

I have owned and played 'Total War' games from Medieval I and have thoroughly enjoyed all of them, but Empire turned out to be a great disappointment. I have now scrubbed the game from my computer and I may even bin the game altogether. I didn't even get a map with it.
I have played war games (table top) since the 1970s and naturally looked forward to a Napoleonic computer simulation but I do not intend to squander a penny on Napoleon Total War until I am quite sure that it is playable from the start and that I stand a chance of beating the game in at least EASY MODE as I don't profess to be a great General.
Needless to say, I will keep my beady eye on all the comments from now on until I am sure that SEGA have put on the market a game worth the money.
Having read many of the comments above I am surprised and disappointed at remarks published by some of them. Some writers seem to have a very tenuous grasp of the English language but that is never an excuse for bad manners.

I referred to the Shogun Total war forums above as it is the only viable support for Empire Total war, as most people who have problems with the game post there even though it is unnofficial. Type in 'Empire total war support' into Google and its the 1st and most popular site for posting problems with Empire, as official support from both Sega AND CA is like talking to a brick wall which is understaffed. The support section has a record breaking number of hits compared to any game site, let alone just a support section. PLEASE look at this site. It won't be pretty, but you have to face these problems and fix them if you ever want people to buy your addons or expansions.
I couldn't believe it when i turned on steam to see you guys still trying to flog special units at now discounted prices... how sad.
Fixing the driver compatibility problem would make the game atleast playable for Nvidia users which will get you half way there a year after you released the game. You are developing quite an infamous reputation, from what was originally a semi-reputable company. Well SEGA's image was tarnished a long time ago. I know how SEGA operate, so to some extent i feel your pain. PLEASE talk to Nvidia and get a working driver BEFORE Napolean comes out, it will boost your sales for Napolean and addons, trust me.
