SEGA Podcast Premier: Sonic Unleashed Audio Interview! The SEGA of America and SEGA Europe community teams have a special surprise for all you Sonic fans - an exclusive audio podcast with the SOA producer for Sonic Unleashed, Patrick Riley! We sat down with Patrick to talk about Unleashed, a look at his job as the producer, and his favorite – and likewise the most challenging – parts of his job producing the game. We’ve also included a number of the awesome music tracks from Unleashed, which you can listen to in the background! Check it out here, and let us know what you thought! ( There are a couple parts where we refer to the game as ‘upcoming’ – this was all recorded before Wii/PS2 launch, but for clarity’s sake, we’re also talking about the 360 and PS3 versions. We’ll soon have an official SEGA Podcast feed live through Itunes, so keep your eyes peeled for even more SEGA goodness coming your way in the near future. All feedback is appreciated, and we’d love to hear what you guys want to hear and see in future episodes!

Thanks for the podcast, it was a little stiff but good.
As for what was said,
They SHOULD be trying to recreate the Genesis games… There is not enough platforming in the Sonic Stages, no momentum either… Half of the fun was building up your speed and trying to keep it, when you can just hit a button and go top speed it takes away a good part of what made Sonic fun in the first place.
The Plane stages are pretty lacking too, they said it would be like the one in Sonic Adventure.. it was nothing like that you can’t even move the plane around its just a QTE mode. Bit of a cop out.
Werehog isnt bad, just flat out boring and not what anyone looks for in a Sonic game.
On the up side though, the engine is good, beautiful day time levels, cam works, the horrid 80s rock music is at a minimum, no lyrics in the level music was bliss and I don’t have to play as any of sonics s****y friends.

Awesome podcast, gives things a personal touch. Unleashed is great, btw. Definitely the best 3D title so far.

Thank you so much for the podcast and all Sega’s hard work.
I have been anticipating this titles for quite some time and saw a lot of promise in it, furthermore I met Naka & Hashimoto san @ E3 2004 and Hashimoto seemed like great guy and a person who cared about Sonic team fans. So I am glad and in honer, to own Sonic teams new game.
There are several things which really bothered me as a Sonic/Sega fan and hard core gamer.
I know programing is not easy but there are a couple of things that really made me and my 8 year old nephew, want to STOP playing the game.
-Cut scenes you CANT skip and are FORCED to watch!(this ruined Nights for me as well and yes I returned it the same day!)
-boring traveling and to MUCH talking with locals.
-mechanics and trajectory during some of the swings
-view of camera while drifting (this was rare)
-tacked on QTE modes that appear with just an image in the background
-Hog mode was ok, but really dose not cater to anyone who bought this game.(there is go to be a way, to blend some action with just Sonic as his regular self and seemed into the core gameplay).
GOOD THINGS SONIC TEAM NAILED
-300 mph feel and the attention they payed to the change of atmosphere when this was done
-As a oldschool Sonic fan, I miss the old atmosphere and design, but this new one is great.
-world tour, Sonic coming to visit us all. That is heart warming
-direction in music and sound
-Good boss and stage aesthetic
-30$ tag is AWESOME and econ friendly
As a broad gamer these few things here really bothered me.
Why dose my new Sonic feel less like Sonic and a lil bit like
God of War, with that same flowing attacking arm, door lifting, pole climbing and various other animations????I am not the only one who has noticed this.
why do the world people look like they are straight of of a Pixar film??
I would love it if you guys could answer these questions for me.

“I don’t have to play as any of sonics s****y friends.”
actually I like playing as Sonic’s s****y friends rather then Sonic himself (like Knuckles, Tails and sometime Shadow for example)
