Not sure if this has been announced yet but a quick search on Gamespot (search Needlemouse) shows 3 platforms (PC, Wii, and X360) with the PS3 missing. So if this is true Wii fans can rejoice that sonic will be coming to a Wii near you (HD content is anyones guess though).

I hope that they still take what they learned from Sonic 2, Sonic 3 and Knuckles and Sonic CD. Those were all good games that can be built upon to make the ultimate Sonic 2d experience. Here’s hoping for a game as long as Sonic 3 and Knuckles too.

The only way for this game not to be good is if Sonic Team *consciously* tries to make it terrible. Sonic was made 2d and this is where he will thrive. I think this will make up for the abominations that are Sonic ‘06 and Sonic Unleashed.

I haven’t been this excited for a game since Zelda: Twilight Princess and won’t be again until the new Zelda’s shown. C’mon, Sega!!!

If you want ideas for the ultimate Sonic game, see Sonic CD: Immersive take on classic Sonic’s defining story, Robotnik trying to turn a whole planet industrial, great soundtracks, surrealism everywhere, enemies that all had their own whimsical but menacing personalities.
You could speed through zones, play through the top tiers, middle tiers, bottom tiers, r your own made up routes in between.
You could set goals besides getting to the end, like getting time stones or finding time warps, robot generators, good futures, bad futures, hidden rooms.

Sonic CD is the definition of a fun game. It doesn’t make you play it one way and then force repetition, it gives you possibilities, options to exercise your mind and new worlds to interact with.

If Sonic CD had come out for a successful console system today it would have blown all the other platformers away.

My top 3 wishes for this game is:

1.- Bring it to Wii
2.- Genesis mechanics.
3.- Use retro style (pre-adventure)

Today I’ve read the comics up from where I left off till the last published Archie Sonic issue. Thanks SEGA, now I can’t get the blue blur of my head.. Gonna play Sonic Chronicles for the first time now. (Make no mistake, Sonic as a platformer is the way to go, I’m just playing this because I consider myself a hardcore Sonic fan).

Only the PS360 can handle HD resolutions and visuals… And this isn’t a PC exclusive… Which leaves PS360 as the main versions, with a downgraded Wii version for later.

Sounds about right to me. Let’s hope it’ll be on a disc, rather than this DLC only rumour that has been gong around.

Not that I dislike the DLC only thing. It would make sense, given the game is supposed to be somewhat smaller than most disc releases. I guess a compilation of DLC episodes at a later date would make a good package for disc release, a la The Orange Box.

I hope its on disc too, ProfessorZolo, as from personal experience, only PC Episodic’s / DLC really feels right to me [cost and release wise at the very least].

I very much dislike the point card systems in place on the consoles. It’d be nice if there was more payment avenues for me to pay precisely, and in real money so I don’t feel as though I’m being ripped off… but alas.

Sure the ps3 and 360 have sonic games that the Wii does not have like sonic the hedgehog 2006 which failed.I hope it does come to all 3 consoles.I don’t care about HD Graphics like most of you out there.

I have a few expectations from this game: There’s only Sonic in the game (none of his other versions or ridiculous characters from the extended universe), he can’t talk, he moves from left to right at high speed, and Dr Robotnik is called Dr Robotnik. Basically, and HD remake of Sonic 1-3, because essentially every Sonic game after that was rubbish. People who actually remember the Mega Drive versions will know what I’m on about.

Naoto Ohshima should also get credit as Sonic’s creator.

Naka had the idea of a speedy character with appropriate gameplay mechanics. It was Ohshima who first drew the character and gave him a unique look and personality.

That had to be the crappiest looking Sonic model I’ve ever seen. The physics don’t look too hot, but I guess they’ll get tweaked. Again, Sonic looks awkward and runs terribly.

But the good news is the logo is great! I didn’t think y’all had it in you to give modern Sonic that classic kind of attitude.

Well okay here’s what I saw that was “Win”

The traditional sidescrolling style gameplay,
The Classic Soundeffects.
The fact that it’s freaking Sonic 4,
The fact that it’s coming out for the Wii (Which means I will be able to play it),
The return of the endlevel sign post,
and the few retro badguys seen on the trailer,

I for one never had been upset about sonics newer design. He wasn’t fat and it just looked better all around. Now Eggman I thought should resemble the classic style somewhat more (Kill the goggles) but I can get over that.

Honestly though you people want a old style game and you want it to be the 4th game and everything and then you guys argue about something small like newish character designs not being thrown out? Sheesh. It’s Sonic 4 and it’s 2d and I for one can’t wait! If you don’t agree with me then fine that’s your problem. As for me I’m gonna enjoy what there is to enjoy!

Sure, many of us want the classic Sonic look, but I can understand SEGA is going for a look that pleases both old Gen and new Gen Sonic fans.

Me, personally, would have loved to see the classic guy in 3D, as well as a classic Robotnik *still uses his old name today haha* but, we’re getting this game in general, and it’s enough to make me EXTREMELY happy as it is.

I’m also questioning the title. It seems… a bit lame in my opinion. I mean, don’t get me wrong. I remember titles like “Sonic the Hedgehog 2/3, or Sonic and Knuckles” would make anyone pee their pants of excitement, but I don’t know about this one. It’s great to see it as a continuation of the series, for sure, for sure! But, I did expect a title that would make me jump out of my chair even more than the cool prototype name of “Project Needlemouse”. Plus, with the add on of “Episode 1″ I’m quite curious if there will be a “Sonic The Hedgehog 5″, or a “Sonic the Hedgehog 4 episode 2″ later on. Which, scares me a little bit because of Sonic games having there up and down cycles. But then again, I’m just complaining now, haha.

None the less, I am still EXTREMELY excited for this game, Sega! I hope you also make an awesome commercial for this like you did in the past for the previous Sonic Genesis games. Can’t wait to see more info on this, for sure! I give it a 10/10 even though I had a complaining session in the last paragraph, haha.

I can’t say I’m not excited, but jeez when I say the subtitle “Episode 1″ that just killed it.. Think about it.. they’re just going to nickel and dime us to death with episodes and end up paying more than a retail game.

Looks amazing, but I have a few small gripes. One is the running animation, the second would be that it will come in episodes. Those are just a couple of complaints, however i’m still excited as all heck!

I’m assuming that your drunk considering you can even ask if anyone liked the werehog. Sheesh.

I wouldhave bought a ps3 but they were to expensive at the time and 360’s are a waste of money. I mean I understand buying one once but they break so much that your just paying for it again and again. Then if that’s not enough your paying for your precious Xbox Live. Which means your basically paying for Troll infested Mw2 matches on a monthly bases.
The wii was the cheapest and I didn’t feel like buying a 360 just so that I could play a millions shooters. I have a pc for that.
Besides I didn’t grow up with games like Halo 3 and grandtheft auto 4. I played games such as the old sonic games, The Mario series, and about any Square Rpg I could get my hands on and those old games are still the best to me.

Ofcourse your wii statement was aimed at me possibly being immature or something silly like that so I will ask who are you to be saying that I am any lesser for owning a wii when you are the one commenting on a SONIC game and are probably playing them still? Granted I still play it too but frankly I don’t care what people think about games. They are electronic entertainment made for the consumers enjoyment and I’ll enjoy what ever game I choose to.

Since that might be hard to ready I’ll summarize it for you.

I’m not sure how I feel about this game after watching the 3 seconds of gameplay. It looks like a budget title, and Sega’s splitting it up into separate episode. This seems like a cheap move on their part. I’m a little disappointed with the overall look of the game. I don’t mind that Sonic’s design isn’t “CLASSIC SONIC NO GREEN EYES!!!!” but the fact that he runs so awkwardly in the trailer bothers me. This wasn’t what I was expecting…I’ll try to remain optimistic though. I guess it’s better to be disappointed now than later on after I’ve purchased a game that I don’t really want.

They still have a little color. Does that effect the gameplay in ANY way?

In what Sonic game has it ever been that easy? Even if it was, it’s a -2D- platformer. What would you prefer? Push left to win? Up to win? Down? You really don’t have a lot of choices there.

“It’s episodic content!”
Uh…let’s see. Odds are this will end up being cheaper than a disc in the long run. It’s the same Sonic love for less cash. For example, let’s say the episodes cost $5 a pop. Episodes numbers usually don’t go over 5, much less 10. At most you’ll spend $50 for a game you’d have paid $50 to $60 for anyway. And do we seriously think we’ll see 10 episodes before the next new game? I don’t.

“There’s another character in it!”
SO? Don’t play as that character! Problem solved!

“They’re calling Robotnik Eggman again!”
Again, who cares? They have every right to do so, Sonic and all the characters BELONG TO SEGA. They could name him Dr. MCHammerPantsFilledWithJello and I still wouldn’t care.

“He’s too slow!”
Sonic 1-3, Sonic and Knuckles, Sonic CD? Remember those? The games we all know and love? THEY WERE TOO UNTIL YOU HIT A FREAKING DOWNWARD SLOPE, GOT THE SHOES, HIT A SPRING, OR DID A SPIN DASH. Did you see any of that before the video was over? Not really? Did you forget the quote “Speed is something that is not given; but rather earned through dedication…” from earlier? Sonic Unleashed was the fastest Sonic game to date and I’m sure most of you whiners hated it!

“It looks terrible!”
Uh, did we watch the same video? The stage and everything looked beautiful! Did you notice the shadows cast by the checkerboard terrain? How about the intricate pattern of the plants? The sun glinting off of the Spiral? Every detail looks like it’s been lovingly crafted.

“Sega let us down again! Now we have to start the wait cycle for a GOOD Sonic game all over again!”
Y’know what? You don’t deserve the rank of “Sonic fan”. Sega doesn’t need you. Sonic doesn’t need you. Really. There are a lot of people that have liked most if not all of his games that’ve come out. They are always thrilled and find at least something to like when they finally get their hands on them. Why don’t you go join some other camp? We’ll all be ok here without you.

If you hate Sonic and his games so much, why are you even here in the first place?
